Title: Hunters & Prey
Author: Katie Salidas
Paperback: 300 pages
Publisher: Rising Sign Books (December 14, 2010)
The story continues as Alyssa copes with her life of being immortal with her mate Lysander and their friends. The story became more interesting as Alyssa shared her secret and broke a vampire rule by sharing their secret with her mortal best friend Fallon. As Alyssa escapes the danger with Santino Vitale, Alyssa doesn't only endangers herself and Fallon but everybody she loves.
As always Alyssa was stubborn in this book. I have a love and hate relationship with Alyssa's character from the start. I loved her determinations and loyalty but the constant pull of danger and stubbornness makes me hate her. This is what makes Alyssa's character intriguing. While reading Hunters & Prey you can't seem to stop thinking what danger will Alyssa attract next. As what Lysander tells her, she's a magnet for disaster. But Alyssa's character is not enough to make me hate the book. I just felt that the confrontation between Quentin was a little flat, it needed a little drama and action. But I love Hunters & Prey more than the first book and I am excited for what will happen next.
There are a lot of aspects in the book that I love but wouldn't want to divulge spoilers so might as well read the book and love it as much as I did. It is indeed a unique version to vampire tales and Katie Salidas wrote it beautifully. I am a new follower to this series and will continue to read it. Again, caution to younger readers as the novel includes violence and sexual content.

Immortalis Carpe Noctem is the story of Alyssa and her struggles after beeing brutally attacked by two men while walking home. The story goes on with Alyssa's life after she was turned into a vampire by Lysander. She now lives her life as an immortal and continues to struggle with being a vampire.
This was a lighter version of a vampire story from all the vampire novels that I have read. What intrigued me was that Salidas gave us a story from behind the scenes, what it might feel like for a person after being turned into an immortal but doesn't want it. I liked how the author gave us her interpretation of what a person might feel if they experience the same turmoil Alyssa experienced.
What I don't like much about the novel is Alyssa's "too stubborn" behaviour. Her constant questioning of why's are irritating and her view of survival (method and justification in killing) is weird. The characters are also a little under developed but asides these I was excited and I enjoyed the time while reading Immortalis Carpe Noctem. Immortalis Carpe Noctem is a great starter for a series and I read the second book instantly after reading this. Can't wait to see what will happen to Alyssa and Lysander together with their family in their battle of survival, friendship and love. A little warning to younger reader is that the book contains some sex scenes, violence and foul language. A great book for recommendation to almost everybody.
The youngest of four children, Katie has always had a desire to entertain. Since, early childhood, she's dreamed fantastical characters and scribbled them into pages of various journals and notebooks. Taking an interest in vampires, she devoured every book, featuring those blood sucking creatures, in any genre she could find.
It was only natural that a love of reading vampire stories, turned into a love to write them.
Katie is also a Las Vegas native, having grown up in the famed City of Sin. She loves to feature it as a recurring setting for many of her stories.
